Madelyn Pryor fancied herself in love with her Hogwarts classmate Tom Riddle. They were both in Slytherin and she'd been taken in by his good looks, his obvious intelligence and talent, and his charm. But she was too shy to do anything about it and Tom had things other than relationships to occupy his time; he never even noticed her. In her seventh year, Madelyn finally got up the courage to approach him and, basically, threw herself at him. Tom, who was after all a teenage male, took advantage of her as a willing sexual partner, although the most affection he felt for her was that he could 'get some' with absolutely no effort put into courting someone first. The encounter did not, as Madelyn foolishly hoped, produce a relationship and after that one night Tom went back to ignoring her.

Madelyn was heartbroken over the incident and when she found out she was pregnant she dropped out of Hogwarts. Adrianna was born nine months later and she and her mother stayed for most of her childhood with her maternal grandparents. Madelyn was far from ready to be a mother and never quite stepped into the role – Adrianna grew up with very little supervision and was a spoiled brat of a child. Her mother brought home increasingly disreputable and abusive boyfriends, each time swearing that she was 'in love' and that this was 'the one.' Finally fed up with her antics, Madelyn's parents kicked her out of the house and she went to live with her latest boyfriend while Adrianna escaped to Hogwarts.

In school, Adrianna was almost uncontrollable. She was sorted into Slytherin like both her parents and was an absolute terror. She did not get along with most of the other children, she bucked authority wherever and whenever she could, she bullied and tormented everyone and everything she could – to the point that she was actually kicked out of her Care of Magical Creatures class. No form of punishment seemed to work on her for long and she only barely passed any of her classes.

After graduating, her grandparents lovingly but firmly refused to take her back and having to support her own way through the world made her calm down a little bit. She took a job in the ministry, thinking that was the fastest way to get ahead, but was fired very quickly. After that she got into the world of personal finance almost accidentally and found she had a talent for it, starting out as an assistant in a financial advisement firm and soon becoming a wealthy investor in her own right. She was one of few women to succeed in that field in that time, mostly due to her fairly ruthless nature. She gained a well-deserved reputation as a man-eater, as she constantly displayed hatred and contempt for any male who crossed her path. During this time she took a few women for lovers, but never managed anything nearing a steady relationship.

When Adrianna was in her early 30s she learned the fate of her father. She'd always known that Tom Riddle was her father, but not what had become of him, since very few people knew Voldemort's real name. But when she had the money for it she hired investigators to track him down and they discovered the truth. Adrianna sought and gained an appointment with Voldemort and confronted him with the news. By reading her mind he knew it was true and he immediately refused to acknowledge her and threw her out of his office. Right after that he tracked down all of her PIs and had them killed.

Unfortunately, the rumor that Adrianna was Voldemort's progeny spread rather quickly among the Death Eaters, as was the warning that no one should bring her up to the Dark Lord himself. Adrianna was furious at being humiliated and took full advantage of the true rumor, using the prestige and fear that went with it to increase her business and amass a great amount of wealth. By the time Voldemort got wind of what she was doing, she'd managed to make herself quite powerful in the upper circles of society. Grudgingly, he was persuaded not to kill her and instead to allow her to become a Death Eater so long as she remained Adrianna Pryor and did not in any way try to present herself as his daughter. She agreed, although she routinely ignores his agreement whenever she thinks she can get away with it.
